Almost a month after it drastically reduced supply to Sonia Vihar water treatment plant, Uttar Pradesh has turned on the taps once again and has started giving Delhi its full share of 300 cusecs. The plant, however, would take time to come back to its normal functioning capacity. Uttar Pradesh had cut off supply on September 27 without any warning. The state's irrigation department had blamed reduced releases from Tehri dam for cutting 70% of water released to Delhi. After repeated representations and letters, including a letter to Prime Minister, Delhi finally had its way and UP resumed supply.
