Usher in a second green revolution: Prez

President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today accentuated the need to undertake the "second Green Revolution that will enhance agriculture productivity as also adopt new technologies for the optimum utilization of agricultural produce" so as to take on the urgent challenge of our times food crisis. She was addressing to the second convocation of Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) here today at General Zorawar Singh auditorium, University of Jammu here today. Quoting the first Prime Minister of India Pandit Nehru, Patil maintained, "More than half a century ago, he had remarked - "Everything can wait, but not agriculture." Today the impulse is of special relevance globally, as we are at a critical juncture striving to achieve food security and to eradicate hunger and poverty from our planet." She exhorted the scientists and researchers to work towards the concept of sustainable agriculture.
