Uttaranchal has to its credit several "firsts" in the sphere of forestry, reveals a recent publication released on the first anniversary of the state. The first national park of the subcontinent, the Jim Corbett National Park, was set up in 1936 in this region, then part of the undivided Uttar Pradesh.
