Uttaranchal to punish parents who keep children from school

Parents who do not sent their children to school in Uttaranchal state will now be penalized with a deduction in their ration quota under the public distribution system.Children, on the other hand, will be rewarded with incentives like a midday meal or other nourishments in school.Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, the Uttaranchal chief minister, Mr Nityanand Swami, said that one of the first priorities of his government was to ensure education for all in the newly formed hill state.
