Many slum-dwellers living in the 66 slum communities of Kathmandu are deprived of electricity, water supply and other basic amenities - because they don't have citizenship. Slum dwellers' problems - like Karki's, is a complicated one. The District Administration Office (DAO) asks for documents of electricity and water supply when the slum dwellers apply for citizenship. The NEA and Nepal Water Supply Corporation, on the other hand, demand citizenship to provide them service!
