Dr Vandana Shiva, the founder of Navdanya, has been given the Giuseppe Mazzotti award for her book Tomorrow's Biodiversity. She was presented the award in Venice, Italy, on November 16. The book has been published in Italy by Edizioni Amblente as Campl di Battaglia. The motivation for the award is said to be the Dr Vandana Shiva's ability, as a scrupulous scientist and a consummate informer, in illustrating the link between the problem of biodiversity and the worrying recent developments opened up by the application of biotechnology to agriculture.
