A fresh controversy has erupted between Governor Dr. Bhai Mahavir and the state Government. The controversy was related to the forest cover of Madhya Pradesh. The Governor, in his opening speech at the budget session in 2000-2001, had mentioned that the forest area in Madhya Pradesh has been enhanced by 376 sq km. However, he has reportedly lodged his protest when the Government expressed its desire that this fact be included in his speech in the budget session this month.
