Village pipe water supply project remains inoperative for years in Nilphamari district. Sources said, such areas where arsenic contamination in the water is very high and where water is not available within 26 feet of the surface, in those localities, the project was undertaken throughout the country. In Nilphamari district the selected site was in Sutipara village of Kundapukur UP of sadar upazila. Accordingly two deep tube-wells and ten water tanks were installed by District Public Health Engineering Department. The project was proposed to provide water in 500 families of the village. Sources added, the beneficiary families were asked to provide electricity bills and emolument of a caretaker. The local people demanded the functioning of the project as soon as possible.
