Over three months after the Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme (SATIS) along with construction of three road overbridges was delinked from the scope of the World Bank-aided Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP), the fate of these projects remains uncertain. According to Metropolitan Commissioner Ratnakar Gaikwad, the Government is now awaiting the World Bank's final nod for restructuring the mega-project. "We are awaiting World Bank's approval for restructuring the MUTP. We shall begin the remaining work only after that,' Gaikwad told said. According to him, till the World Bank sanctions the restructured plan, these sub-components will remain under MUTP. "If we continue now, then we will have to follow the WB guidelines for the project, which are very stringent,' he said. That means the city's wait for less congested suburban railway stations has just grown longer. "We think it'll take a month or so for the approval to come,' Gaikwad said. SATIS, a highly delayed project, is a grand plan to decongest areas outside crowded suburban railway stations
