Waste compositing begins at Sonsodo

For the first time ever, segregation and composting of daily waste commenced at the Sonsodo dumping yard on Thursday with technical expertise from Goa Foundation, with Chief Minister, Digambar Kamat promising all help and co-operation to the Civic body to tide over the situation. A dozen-odd labourers were seen engaged in the segregation work at the far end of the dumping site. By evening, the men and machinery have been successful in segregating the 40 tonnes of waste brought at the site. And, if one goes by the assurance given by Goa Foundation Director, Dr Claude Alvares to the Chief Minister, Sonsodo will see a turn around within the next one week, further promising that the situation will improve by May before the onset of monsoons.
