Giving a fresh impetus to the tourism sector, the Kerala State Industries Department is working on a proposal to set up a Water Park project centred around Puthuvype. The project envisages a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the coastal belt for construction of luxury boats, fishing craft, sailing equipment, motor engines and all modern machinery required for the promotion of deep water fishing. It also plans construction of various equipment being used in water sports. The construction will be export oriented and priority will be given to the local fisher workers in all work.
