Water pollution up as nitrate level exceeds

  • 15/10/2004

As against a demand of 240 million gallons per day (MGD) the Board is supplying around 190 MGD. This includes 25 MGD drawn from 6,000 odd municipality owned hand bores. The Board Quality Analysis Testing (QAT) wing which tested water samples from these hand bores found that water from 987 bores was unfit for human consumption. They were painted red to indicate that the water was contaminated.
