The battle between the Andhra Pradesh and the Karnataka Governments over the construction of a reservoir at Paragodu across Chitravati river took a serious turn with the Ministry of Water Resources approaching Union Law Ministry to find out whether the S M Krishna Government has violated the earlier agreements by taking up the project. The controversy assumed serious dimension with senior BJP leader from Andhra Pradesh and Minister of State for Railways Bandaru Dattatreya deciding to lead a delegation to Water Resources Minister Arjun Charan Sethi on 16 June demanding immediate suspension of civil works at Paragodu.
