Water shortage reaches alarming 35%

Water shortage in Pakistan has reached an alarming 35 percent and the crisis could affect crops of the Rabi season that just began.
Sources familiar with the developments told Daily Times the government had called a top-level meeting of the provincial irrigation ministers, members of the National Assembly standing subcommittee on water and power, and the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) chairman to review the situation. Water and Power Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf will chair the meeting, and the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) chairman will brief the participants.
The WAPDA and IRSA chairmen will give their input on how to tackle the crisis.
