Having not received water supply for the past 16 days, angry residents picketed and locked up the Gurupura panchayat office on Mangalore city's outskirts. Residents of Chilimbi, Nadugudde, Kottarigudde and Jalligudde who have not received water supply from the local Gurupura panchayat said they resorted to picketing the gram panchayat office and locking it up in protest against the panchayat's failure to respond to their repeated complaints on the water scarcity. During the protest heated exchanges took place between the panchayat secretary Sadashiva and local leaders.
