WaterHealth International Inc (WHI), through its India arm, is planning to offer safe and affordable drinking water to rural communities, using a model that included water purification technology. Announcing this here on Tuesday, Dr Tralance Addy, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of WHI, said ICICI Bank had announced a Rs 4-crore loan to part finance the projects in the rural areas. The rural communities would have to pay a fee, less than Rs 90 a person in a year, to get access to the purified water. The WaterHealth Centres, owned by the communities, would purify the water and deliver it to the people.
