The World Bank on Wednesday announced a $ 39 million credit for a forestry project in Kerala aimed at increasing forest products and preserving biodiversity in the State. A PTI report from Washington quoting Mr. Chris Keil, project task leader and a senior forestry specialist in the World Bank's South Asia Rural Development Department, said the project was a pilot effort to determine appropriate approaches for participatory forest management best suited to Kerala's Forestry and Socio-economic condition.
