Following the bifurcation of the state of Madhya Pradesh, the World Bank has taken the decision of not releasing the Rs 505-crore soft loan meant for implementation of the second phase of the MP Forestry Project. The World Bank had sanctioned a loan of Rs 800 crore in 1995 for the implementation of the MP Forestry Project, which was the largest foreign-funded forestry project of the country.
