Union ministry of shipping has approached the West Bengal government to take over the ailing PSU, Central Inland Water Transport Corporation (CIWTC). The state government has reportedly shown interest in taking over the company 0and make a last ditch attempt to revive it. When contacted, Mr. Praful Tayal, chairman and managing director of CIWTC, confirmed the development. Sources said that a senior transport department delegation of the state government is currently in New Delhi for discussions with centre. Talks are also going on in state government circles for revival of the company.
