West Bengal to implement new emission norms from November

In a move to combat atmospheric pollution, the West Bengal government has after much hesitation decided to implement the India-2000 emission norms for commercial vehicles from next month. State environment minister Manab Mukherjee said that while commercial vehicles would have to adhere to the emission standards from Novermber 1, all new vehicles both commercial and private, registering in the state would have to meet the India-2000 norms, from April 1, 2000.
