Western Ghats' rain forests no longer safe from poachers

For several years now, the Mahabaleshwar-Panchgani plateau (which has the only surviving homogeneous patch of rain forests in Maharashtra's Western Ghats) has made news for all sorts of reaseons - reckless tree felling, illegal construction, environmental pollution, vandalism of natural and architectural heritage sites and structures by local developers-but it was assumed to be relatively safe from bigtime paoching. Not anymore.
