Throwing all existing norms to the winds, hundreds of trees have been felled in the miscellaneous plantation in the Mekkapala area under the Kodanad Division of the Malayattoot Forest Range. Citing that the opeation has violated directives of the Supreme Court and the High Court, a Kochi-based green movement has slapped a contempt of court notice on the State Government and the Forest Department.
