Over three thousand full-grown trees in south Delhi will be cut to enable the National Hihgway Authority of India (NHAI) to convert the NH-8 into a 4/4 lanes super highway. Even the tress on the centre verge of the highway aren't likely to be spared. The city government's Forest Department officials are making concerted efforts to save, at least, the trees on the centre verge of the highway, starting from Dhuala Kuan to Kapasheda Border. "Efforts are on. But we aren't sure how successful we will be," sources in the Forest Department told The Pioneer on Monday.
