The forest division in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh has proposed to chalk out a programme to study the feasibility of establishing a wildlife sanctuary in the forests of Potom village. A team comprising West Siang Deputy Commissioner MK Sahoo, DFO Nyali Ete and other officials had recently undertaken a nine–day trek to areas of interest in far–flung areas beyond the village including Anu Subse Putu (peak), Sobo Yobo (lake) and Amdo Taalee (tree) to study feasibility of establishing a sanctuary, official sources said here today. The trekking programme was organized by Potom Adventure Club led by Somar Potom. During an interaction with the villagers, the DC assured to look into the matter of providing telephone connectivity to the GB, and to take up with the PHED regarding water supply. The matter of establishing a wildlife sanctuary and encouraging tea or rubber plantation, if desired, would be recommended to the government, sources said quoting the DC.
