While Wipro and HCL have topped in the just released Greenpeace Guide to Greener Electronics for launching green products, Toshiba and Microsoft lag for failure to keep their promise. The gap between companies that are making progress in weeding our toxic chemicals, improving energy efficiency and enabling consumers to recycle their products and the rest has also increased. Globally Wipro shares the top spot with Nokia scoring 7.5 points. HCL and Sony Ericsson follow with 7.1 and 6.9 points. They have eliminated the use of hazardous substances like PVC/BFRs (brominated flame retardants), antimony, beryllium and phthalates. Abhishek Pratap, a toxics campaigner with Greenpeace India, said,
