Women in large numbers have volunteered to work as guards in protecting wildlife and forest wealth in Thekkady which falls under the Periyar Tiger Reserve in Kerala. These women wearing caps and uniforms, numbering six each in eight groups headed by a captain, fall in the age group of 20 to 45 years.
