Ahmedabad: You don't need to read John Gray's bestseller 'Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus' to know that men and women think very differently So, that this has an impact on rural governance shouldn't come as a surprise.
Women understand progress better, says Dr Pushpa Motiyani, head of Peace Research Centre, Gujarat Vidyapith. "Women sarpanches focus on providing safe drinking water, setting up health centres, ensuring there are sufficient teachers in village schools and fodder for livestock," she says.
