Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd. (MCL), one of the beneficiary subsidiaries of Coal India Ltd. of the World Bank loan, has to take up an environment and social mitigation plan (ESMP) in right earnest for the affected villages, as also the villages lying within one km of periphery of the mines which are to be expanded or developed with IBRD aid amounting to $97.16 millions.
