A workshop-cum-training programme on Forest (Conservation) Act for the officials of Border Roads Organisation was organised recently at HQ47 BRTF (GREF) to sensitise and educate the participants on preparations of the proposals for Forest/Environmental clearances for development of border roads. Altogether 27 BRO officers and 29 supervisory personnel attended the seminar among whom AK Singh, Director (BRDB) New Delhi, Col Lobzang Neema, Director/TP Central of HQ DGBR, New Delhi, BS Pandey, SE (C), director (Estg) Project Setuk and Narendra Prasad, SE (C), commander 47 BRTF were present. The seminar aimed to facilitate the road development programme by BRO in order to provide connectivity to far-flung areas of North East in view of obtaining forest clearance approval. This was stated in a press release. The seminar started with formal inauguration followed by inaugural speech by AK Singh, director (BRDB), New Delhi, Narendra Prasad, SE (C), Commander 47 BRTF welcomed all participants and officers of Forest Deptt of all North East State. Col Lobzang Neema, director/TP Central of HQ DGBR, New Delhi presented the problems in details being faced by BRO in obtaining the forest clearance from Ministry of Forest & Environment for BRO projects. The senior officers from Department of Forest & Environment RC Thanga, CCF (Mizoram), RL Sanga, DCF (Central) MoEF Shillong, L Sharat Chandra Singh, CCF (Manipur) R Kemp, CCF (Arunachal Pradesh), OP Pandey, CCF (Assam) and MM Sharma, nodal officer (Assam) presented the prerequisites of requirement as per the forest (Conservation) Act to sensitise and make aware the BRO officials enabling to provide correct inputs as per the formats for preparations of the proposals for forest / environmental clearance to avoid delay in obtaining the forest clearance. State wise status of proposals was also reviewed. BRO has identified the senior level GREF official to interact with state nodal officers to remove the bottlenecks and interact regularly to expedite the proposals.
