World Bamboo Congress To Focus On Industrys Woes

There is some good news for Rs 2,043 crore bamboo industry in the country and millions of bamboo growers. New Delhi is slated to host the seven-day Seventh World Bamboo Congress beginning on Februray 27, this year. Alongwith this event there will be a four-day World Bamboo Expo showcasing the finest bamboo products, accessories and machnery, technology and knowhow related to production of bamboo products. The prime minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee is slated to inaugurate the event. Close on the heels of the New Delhi events, Arunachal Pradesh is hosting the three-day BanFest 2004 in Itanagar beginning from March 6.
