The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) warned Russia's far eastern forests, one of the world's biggest areas of forest wilderness, risked destruction within five years because of illegal logging. The conservation organisation urged G7 countries, along with China and South Korea - two of the biggest markets - to halt purchases of illegal timber.
