Zonal master plan draft for Bhagirathi eco zone ready

A presentation of the draft of the zonal master plan for the Bhagirathi eco-sensitive zone was made in the secretariat here on Monday. Chairing the monitoring committee formed for this purpose, the chief secretary Rakesh Sharma said that the Bhagirathi River Valley Development Authority (BRVDA) had already been formed in the past to regulate activities in the Bhagirathi valley. He averred that the State Government is alert towards ensuring environmental conservation and maintaining the sanctity of the Bhagirathi river. The interests of the people living in the area will not be ignored in the master plan, he stressed. The chief secretary directed the Uttarkashi district magistrate and monitoring committee member secretary Indudhar Baudai to facilitate interaction with the residents of 88 villages in the area regarding local development.
