This document is the draft report of the glaciers study group, prepared by Ministry of Science and Technology, submitted to the Prime Minister's Council on Climate Change. This document presents 1) the current status and future prospective of quaternary glaciation in Indian Himalaya, 2) observational studies of the recent past, 3) interpretation of the observed glacier data, 4) linkages with biophysical and socio-economic systems, 5) projections of impacts of anthropogenic climate change, and finally 6) recommendations.
