The 19th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the National Board on Wildlife took place under the chairmanship of Shri Jairam Ramesh, MOS(I/C) Environment and Forests. After a detailed discussion, the Standing Committee decided to reject a proposal of the Department of Atomic Energy for exploratory drilling for uranium in Rongcheng Plateau in Balphakram National Park, South Garo Hills District of Meghalaya.
