The Indian Government will file an affidavit in the Supreme Court today asking for work to progress on Sethusamudaram project. The Government is also planning to submit that ASI survey is not important. The government's turnaround will come as a major boost to DMK. DMK has been pushing for the project to go ahead.
The Union government is likely to go ahead with the contentious Sethusamudram Project. Sources disclose that the government will defend the project when the case comes up for hearing on Tuesday and will reply to petitions demanding that the Ram Sethu or the Adam's Bridge be declared as a national monument and World Heritage site.
On April 11, the union cabinet gave the go-ahead to conservation authorities to sign an mou with international counterparts to protect the dugong and its habitat.
