Analysis of data from forest plants worldwide shows that margins between threshold xylem pressures at which plants suffer damage and the lowest xylem pressures experienced are small, with no difference
The amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere reached a new record high in 2011, according to the World Meteorological Organization. Between 1990 and 2011 there was a 30% increase in radiative forcing
Climate change is widely recognized as a significant man-made global environmental change and is also treated as a threat. The impact of high temperature, erratic precipitation, extreme weather events
Managing ecosystems for carbon storage may also benefit biodiversity conservation, but such a potential ‘win-win’ scenario has not yet been assessed for tropical agroforestry landscapes. We measured above-
The Chinese government allocated 46.2 billion yuan ($7.22 billion) from its central budget to the return-farmland-to-forests plan during 2008-11, according to the National Development and Reform Commission,
The task for global governance in dealing with climate change is to focus on the interconnectedness between carbon dioxide emissions, standards of living and global ecological limits. The interdependence
Salt marshes around the world's coasts will help slow climate change until about 2050 by soaking up greenhouse gases but then risk making the problem even worse as sea levels rise, a study showed on Wednesday.

Facts and Trends: Forests, forest products, carbon & energy is a new report developed by the WBCSD Forest Solutions Group and NCASI. The report is highlighting the key role forests and forest products
KOHIMA: A State level workshop on preparedness for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+), jointly organized by TERI New Delhi and State’s department of Forest, was held in the State capital on Wednesday. The workshop was organized with the objective to create financial value for carbon stored in forests, reduce emissions from forested lands and induce investment for sustainable development. Nagaland principal chief conservator of Forests, Dr CL Goel, in his address informed that REDD+ goes beyond deforestation and forest degradation and includes conservation, sustainable management of forest and enhancement of forest carbon stocks. The PCCF said REDD Plus and sustainable forest management can prove to be important tools through which the State of Nagaland can reap benefits of the co-benefits of forests.
