There is no alternative to reduction of emission levels to fight global warning. A paper presented at the 24th Kerala Science Congress on Monday challenges the common perception that merely filling the surface of the Earth with trees would not suffice in tackling the menace.
A study undertaken by P.R. Satheesh, a Research Fellow at the Rubber Research Institute of India (RRII), under the guidance of RRII director James Jacob, has analysed how far trees can help to reverse atmospheric carbon dioxide and thus save the planet from further warming.
