Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh government has issued strict instruction to all the officers of forest department and wild-life divisions throughout the State for protection of forest, wildlife and bio-diversity. The instruction was issued by the Chief Minister Nabam Tuki while considering the plea of Fringe Peoples Forum-WL (FPF-WF) of East Siang district for stringent measures to save forest and wildlife recently, official sources informed on Wednesday.

Floating carcasses being recovered everyday Altogether 538 animals, including 13 rhinos, of the Kaziranga National Park, have been killed in the devastating Assam floods and the death toll is mounting with the KNP authorities of this World Heritage Site recovering more floating carcasses everyday. The floods have also damaged roads and other infrastructure in the park, which is famous for the one-horned rhino. Even amidst the floods, two rhinos were killed by poachers. The floods have claimed 100 human lives, while 16 others died due to landslip in the State. Of these, 56 are children.
JAIPUR: At least 10 poachers, armed with guns and knifes, thrashed a forest guard in Indala area in Ranthambore National Park on Tuesday night after he tried to nab them. The poachers escaped after killing a spotted deer. According to sources, a guard, Hanuman, who was on duty in the park at night, heard some noises nearby. Suddenly he saw a few persons armed with guns and knifes. "No sooner he stepped forward, the poachers attacked him. At this the guard raised an alarm and soon his colleagues reached for help. But even they were attacked by the poachers who then escaped," said an official.
