LUCKNOW: In a major crackdown against the illegal wildlife trade, forest department along with revenue and police department swooped down on the shops selling endangered birds at Nakhas on Wednesday. Five people were arrested from the place in the joint action. Besides, 48 birds of different varieties were recovered by the team of officials.

GUWAHATI, June 20: Customs officials on Sunday seized a huge consignment of tiger bones and other animal parts estimated at a whopping Rs.10.66 million and destined for use in traditional medicines in China, an official said.
Kathmandu: Two Indians have been detained by the Nepali authorities in connection with the poaching of pangolins. The District Forest Office (DFO) was questioning Amit Jain and Sunil Kumar and a Nepali driver, officials said. Last month, the DFO detained two Chinese nationals when they tried to cross over into Chinese territory with 46 kg of pangolin skin. Their car was also seized.
