Environment awareness programme

No takers for IIM-A's agriculture MBA course

Of the total 30 seats that are assigned to the two-year management course, only 22 were filled in the 2008-10 batch.

Environment awareness contest goes national
CHENNAI: The environment awareness contest for school students organised by Young Indians (Yi), the youth arm of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), has gone national this year, and will involve an estimated 2,000 schools across 17 cities. The contest seeks to sensitise children to the values of ecological conservation. The deadline for project submission is August 15. School students can pool their ideas about greening their campuses through energy- saving and water conservation solutions and submit the projects to Yi.

One with nature Kovai bus conductor leaves a green footprint

His affable nature gets him passengers' ears, eyes and hearts. Having lived and tasted nature's bounty , Yoganathan was pained to see cutting of trees at Kotagiri in the Nilgiris. He resolved to protect and preserve nature.

Course in resource management from July 26
Pune June 29 The Ecological Society has commenced the admission process for the one-year postgraduate diploma in Natural Resource Management, Sustainable Development and Ecological Restoration. According to a press note sent by the Society, the objective of the course is to impart training in sustainable use of natural resources.

Agriculture education in schools stressed
Agriculture should be taught in primary and high schools in rural areas across Pakistan so that the country's younger generation is better equipped with the knowledge of the subject, says an academic. Talking to a delegation of Australian scientists led by Prof Ray Collins, University of Agriculture Faisalabad acting Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ashfaq said Pakistan was lagging behind in post-harvest technology and marketing of its farm products.

Greening India project launched
Manav Sarathi, a voluntary organisation, launched its Greening India programme at Tetelia LP School, Dimoria Block of Kamrup (M) district on the occasion of World Environment Day. Addressing the inaugural function, Dr Manjushree Pathak, president of the organisation, said that the project Greening India is meant for the benefit of rural people of the Dimoria Block and is also designed to create environmental awareness and to promote ecological balance in the area.
