The unusual coolness in the air, this June, has prompted almost everybody on my campus to discuss the monsoons with renewed interest and sharper analysis,' says Nishant Bahl, a Class VIII student of St John's School. Unlike the last few years, when June was one of the hottest months, this year the month has greeted the region with a welcome pleasantness in the weather, courtesy the early-onset of the monsoons.

The "Green School Award' is given to the school with the most active environment club. The "Environmental Champions Award' is given to Scouts or Girl Guides who provides a constructive service in collaboration with a committee or society or the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Water in a project related to environmental preservation.

KOLKATA : In a bid to reduce harmful effect of pollution on health, the Indian Medical Association has decided to conduct various mass awareness programmes in the city. Stressing on the need of such campaigns, Mrs Urmilla Khanna, president of Indian Medical Association said: "Pollution affects major human organs of the body and unless we are aware and take precautionary measures, the risk will keep on increasing in future.'
