A two-day long training programme of teachers on disaster management and school safety was organised in Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara on April 23 and 24. All total 32 participants from different government and private high schools of Guwahati took part in this two-day training programme conducted under Urban Earthquake Vulnerability Reduction Project, Kamrup Metropolitan in collaboration with the Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara, said an official press release.
Indian Army Environment and Ecology Cell in collaboration with Bombay Natural History Society conducted a conservation education workshop for senior students at Amity Public School in Delhi Cantonment here earlier this week. Titled "Energy and water audit programme and bio-diversity', the workshop was aimed at highlighting the importance of conserving water, electricity and other resources for a better future.
A novel scheme is being implemented to rid villagers of polluted drinking water in the rural areas of Madhya Pradesh. Under this scheme, now the villagers would be able to test purity of water in just Re 1. The test would be conducted by trained members of Gram Panchayats. They are being imparted specialised training in this connection. Amount to be incurred on water testing would be mobilised through public participation.

Painting messages on paper bags , clay-modelling workshops, film screenings and seminars have been planned to sensitise people towards environment on Earth Day tomorrow. The World Wild Life Fund(WWF)India has invited entries from schoolchildren to paint on paper bags that will be distributed in commercial areas to passersby. "The best three entries from each of the participating seven schools in Delhi will be awarded. But all bags that the kids make will be distributed as part of the sensitisation programme on Earth Day tomorrow,' Rashmi Asthana of the WWF India told IANS.
