Nine more dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals of the city in the last 24 hours, said the focal person of the dengue surveillance cell, Dr Shakil Malik, on Monday. He said a total of 39 dengue patients have so far been admitted to different hospitals, of which 11 patients were sent home after proper medical treatment at the hospitals.
Capital Development Authority (CDA) has failed to enforce Environmental Protection Regulations (EPRs), 2008, since its issuance last month. The EPRs were issued on July 30 to conserve environment and keep the city clean. People, especially those living in downscale areas, are however flouting them with impunity. The CDA's Environment Directorate too seems least bothered about enforcing the regulations, as no action has been initiated against their violators so far.

One range officer and five guards of forest department sustained serious injuries on Sunday when some timber smugglers ran their vehicle over them in Shungli Bandy area of Teshil Oghi, Mansehra district. The forest department had deployed a team on Jabor Road near Shingle Bandy forest to restrict illegal cutting. According to police, the forest department team signaled a suspected vehicle to stop, but the driver of the vehicle laden with timber did not stop and ran it over the forest team.

Food security and productivity enhancement programme of small farmers has been expanded in 1012 villages at a cost of Rs 100 million in Punjab. Official sources told Business Recorder here Sunday that the programme would jointly be carried out by federal, provincial and district governments in Punjab. In Sialkot district, the programme would be carried out in 72 villages and under the programme each village would be provided funds amounting to Rs 1.95 crore for the implementation of the programme while initial work on the project has been initiated in area.
