Vadodara: The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has issued a closure notice to a chemical manufacturing firm based in Nandesari on the outskirts of the city for discharging effluent in Mini river last month. Vadodara Gas Company Ltd (VGCL), a city gas distribution (CGD) player joint promoted by Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) and GAIL Gas Limited is looking to expand its consumer base by adding 200,000 domestic consumers over the next five years. Forty-seven students of a government primary school at Brahmanvasi village in Gujarat were allegedly beaten up by their teacher for raising their voice against the delay in getting mid-day meals, the police said on Sunday.
