The Skybus advantage
- Indigenous technologies developed by Konkan Railways, which are said to be one-third the cost of imported technologies.
- Follows existing roads so it is like a bus and not a train. No land is required, as it is elevated and it goes where the commuter wants thus, decongesting the busy road.
- It takes five to 10 years to build an underground metro and an elevated metro rail five to seven years. Sky bus will take only two years.
- For a typical 10-12 km route of a skybus to be built with about 30,000 persons per hour per day, the finished cost of project would be around Rs 450 crore, as compared to Rs 200 crore for underground metro and Rs 90 crore for elevated metro.
