A bill to restrict emissions of the greenhouse gas (ghg) carbon dioxide is under consideration in the us House of Representatives. The proposed Climate Stewardship Act, endorsed by both Republicans and Democrats, seeks to limit ghg emissions from the energy, manufacturing and transport sectors. It is the first time such a measure would be imposed in the us. The legislation, similar to the voted down McCain-Lieberman bill introduced in the Senate last year, has been welcomed by green groups. While it may be some time before such a measure becomes law, this is a definite progress from the Bush administration's aversion to the Kyoto protocol.
