Curbing pollution
In a bid to curb air pollution, the use of catalytic converters and diesel particulate filters has been made compulsory for all diesel and petrol-run vehicles in Bangladesh from June 2002. Steps will be taken to make these two equipments free from import tax. The government has also decided to ban the use of hydraulic horns in vehicles. The registration of vehicles using this type of horns will be cancelled.
