S Tamprapani, senior vice president, Adani Energy Ltd confirmed the rollback in gas prices. Earlier this month, Adani had jacked up CNG prices by Rs 3.5 per kg.
State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) on Monday announced it has bagged a Rs 1,150 crore turnkey contract for setting up an energy-efficient 153-MW captive power plant at Bhatinda in Punjab. The Rs 1,150 -crore order has been placed on the company by HMEL, a joint venture of HPCL and Mittal Energy Ltd. "Under international competitive bidding (ICB), the company won the contract to set up environment-friendly 153-MW captive power plant at the upcoming Guru Gobind Singh Refinery at Bhatinda,' a company release said.
GUJARAT State Petroleum Corporation has discovered another gas reserve in the hydrocarbon-rich Krishna Godavari (KG) basin, on the eastern coast. The company, however, is very tight lipped about the size of the discovery. The gas discovery was made in the new well of deepwater block of KG 22. The company recorded gas flow at the rate of 27.3 million cubic feet per day through a choke of 28/64 inches. GSPC managing director D J Pandian told ET, "We have again discovered gas. The flow rate is good. The size of the discovery could only be ascertained after the testing results.'

ANGUL: Power generation at the 3000-MW NTPC power plant at Kaniha has been hit due to coal crisis even as Mahanadi Coalfields Limited claimed to have supplied 99 per cent of coal demand of the plant in the current month. The power plant, second biggest in India, provides power to 17 states, including four southern states.
A Chinese state-run company, Shenhua Group Corporation, which had rolled back its plan in 2006, is likely to invest $1.5 billion for setting up 1,000 Megawatts coal-fired plants, it is reliably learnt. India's largest power company NTPC plans to invest a massive Rs 2,25,000 crore in the next seven years in capacity expansion to become a 75,000-MW entity, company's chairman, Mr R. S. Sharma, said. NTPC, which has a production capacity of a little over 30,000 MW annually, constitutes 19 per cent of the country's total installed capacity of 1,55,000 MW.
