NEW DELHI: The capital produces about 5,000 metric tonnes (MT) of hazardous waste annually but it still doesn't have any facility for proper storage and disposal of such wastes. The government is in the process of acquiring land for this purpose at Kanjhawla. However, it will take a couple of years before the facility is set up.
NEW DELHI: Welcoming the introduction of Bharat Stage IV norms for fuels and vehicles that came into effect from April 1 in 13 cities of the country including Delhi, the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) has accused the automobile industry of trying to delay the implementation of the same norms for vehicles in the rest of the country.
Action plan for provision of safe drinking water in rural areas for 2010-11 is yet to be prepared due to delay by the National Key Resource Centres, identified for capacity building of the different stakeholders related to provision of potable water at State levels.
