The much-delayed National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme finally made a beginning in the state, with the Rural Development Agency providing daily wage jobs to 17 persons from Gaondongrim village in Canacona taluka from December 30. These 17 daily wage workers, who had applied for jobs under the scheme were provided work at a field bundh on a daily wage of Rs 110.
